Dasho Jigyel Receives Red Scarf
His Royal Highness Dasho Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck was awarded the Royal Scarf by His Majesty the King on August 28. The Royal Scarf symbolizes lifelong commitment to the service of the King, Country and People.
Traditionally, princes and princesses of the Druk Gyalpo wear the white scarf symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and attainment of the values of simplicity, humility and equality until when they begin work of fulfilling their sacred duty of service to the Nation and People.
HRH Dasho Jigyel was born in 1984. He studied in Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School, completed high school in Choate Rosemary Hall, USA, and graduated from Oxford University, UK, this year.
His Royal Highness would have graduated a year earlier, but had returned to Bhutan during the first year of college to join the militia for the military operations in 2003.
