April 18, 2008 - Thimphu: The draft Constitution of Bhutan is expected to be tabled for endorsement at the first joint sitting of the parliament expected sometime in the beginning of May.

This was discussed among a host of other issues at the first sitting of the Lhengye Zhungtshog (cabinet), chaired by the Prime Minister, on April 14.

A press release from the Cabinet Secretariat stated that the 10th Plan will be presented to the cabinet by the GNH Commission on April 17.

Deliberating on the agenda for the first sitting of the National Assembly, the cabinet also decided to table the Election Bill and the Parliamentary Entitlements Bill for endorsement.

It was agreed that all the ministers should orient themselves on the function, responsibilities, plans and programs of their respective ministries. Administrative issues relating to the role and function of the prime minister and the ministers were also discussed.

It was decided that the prime minister will resume the chairmanship of the Coronation and Centenary Celebration Committee.

Meanwhile, the government has begun the groundwork for the formation of parliamentary committees.
