Foreign ministry appointments

29 November, 2008 – Major General V Namgyel, Principal ADC to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of India. Maj. General Namgyel will replace former minister, Dago Tshering.

The foreign secretary, Yeshey Dorji was appointed as the permanent representative to the United Nations Office and other specialised UN agencies in Geneva, with the rank of Ambassador and Plenipotentiary. The director general, department of bilateral affairs, foreign ministry, was appointed as the permanent representative to the United Nations and other specialised UN agencies in New York.

The appointment has been approved in accordance with Article 2 section 19 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan.
