His Majesty grants audience to former External Affairs Secretary
July 28: His Majesty the King granted audience to the Special Envoy of the Indian Prime Minister for Climate Change and the former External Affairs Secretary, Mr. Shyam Saran, at the Tashichhodzong today. Mr. Shyam Saran was appointed as special envoy of Prime Minister on Nuclear issue and also as special envoy of Prime Minister for climate change issue in April 2008. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1970 and since then has served in various capacities. In 1979 he also participated as fellow, United Nations Disarmament Programme in Geneva, Vienna and New York.
Later in the afternoon, the former External Affairs Secretary called on the Prime Minister, Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley. Mr. Saran is in the Kingdom on a five day visit. He will also be visiting places of historical importance. |
