Students showcase Bhutan in Australia

Bhutanese students in the University of New England in Australia participated in the Armidale Autumn Festival from March 19 to 22, which brought together thousands of people.

Dressed in gho and kira, the students walked the streets waving the national flag and banners. They sang Bhutanese songs and danced to showcase the unique culture of Bhutan to the admiration of thousands of people.

The students explained the concept of GNH to thousands of tourists and visitors who had little knowledge about Bhutan.

The Bhutanese dress attracted the attention of many people who flocked to the students for pictures. The students said that it was a matter of great pride to walk on a foreign street in the national dress carrying the national symbols.

There are nine Bhutanese students studying in UNE.The autumn festival is a yearly event organised to promote tourism and showcase the uniqueness of Northern Table Land. This year, the oneday festival was extended to four days due to its increasing popularity.
