« Aum Tshewang Lham and Ap Tsheten Dorji
Award Two veteran singers, Aum Tshewang Lham and Ap Tsheten Dorji were honoured with the Druk Norbu, a lifelong musical award on December 17 in Thimphu.

 

Aum Tshewang Lham from Khangkhu, Paro made her name as a singer during the reign of the third Druk Gyalpo. Today she guides children and dzongkhag dancers in traditional Bhutanese song and dance.

Ap Tsheten Dorji, who is a singer and a dancer served as a court dancer and singer during the time of the third Druk Gyalpo.

The award ceremony, Bhutan’s living treasure for culture was organised by the Music of Bhutan Research Centre and the home ministry.
