Domestic Air Services
Domestic Air Services Bhutan Airline’s will offer a promotional introductory airfare discount of 24 percent for international passengers and 40 percent for Bhutanese passengers on both the routes starting December 17 this year until February 28 next year, officials from Tashi Air pvt ltd revealed yesterday at the airline’s official launch at the Taj Tashi.
The introductory airfare is to make flying in Bhutan Air more attractive, Tashi group vice chairman, Wangchuk Dorji said.
Reasoning their proposed fares, which people felt were too expensive, Wangchuk Dorji said the commissioning of domestic air services would bring down travel time from around two days to 40 minutes. “It would save time and reduce discomfort,” he said.
Bhutan Air has proposed USD 250 (single) and USD 400 (return) from Paro to Bumthang; USD 350 (single) and USD 600 (return) from Paro to Yonphula; USD 150 (single) and USD 250 (return) from Bumthang to Yonphula. (See box for promotional fares)
“The operating cost would be expensive, considering the low initial traffic movement,” he said. “And since the aircraft can seat only eight passengers, the revenue would be considerably lower.”
