Japan GNH Society
Arriving in Tokyo, Japan, yesterday, the Prime Minister Jigme Y Thinley patronized the newly founded Japan GNH Society and congratulated the members for having set up such an association in Japan.
The PM informed that the UN General Assembly has adopted Bhutan’s resolution of a holistic and a sustainable future for mankind. He said, the resolution recognizes specifically the limitations of a GDP led economy and that the resolution was sponsored by 68 countries earlier this July.
Lyonchhen further informed the members that a conference for GNH to frame recommendations for the UN Secretary General, for the governance of the world to incorporate GNH led values in their public policies, will be held in New York in spring of next year.
The PM also told the gathering about the international conference hosted by Bhutan soon after the UN resolution which was attended by experts from all over the world. He added that recommendations from this conference are being submitted to the UN Secretary General and are being circulated to all members of the UN.
