They would be trained for six months in Kolkata, India
Employment Wipro selected 23 Bhutanese job seekers who had walked in for a training program interview at the labour ministry from November 2 to 4.

The 23 that comprise of 11 university graduates, 11 class XII students and a diploma holder were selected from the 180 registered job seekers with the department of employment.

Employment officials said trainees from Link to Service (L2S) and Bhutan Centre for Excellence (BCE) also took part in the interview besides registered.

It however did not recorded how many in total walked in for the interview.

BCE’s director Singhey Gyamtsho said 12 trainees from BCE went for the interview of which Wipro selected three.

In 2008, BCE tied up with Wipro and sent its first batch of Bhutanese candidates for the training programme.

“Of the 46 trainees we trained this year, 35 were already selected by Wipro last month,” the director clarified. “The rest sat for the walk in interview organised by the employment department.”

Singhey Gyamtsho said the institute would be organising another round of interview at the end of this month with Wipro for the unselected candidates.

The selected candidates will be sent to Wipro’s office in Kolkata, India on November 17 for the six months training during, which they would be paid a living allowance of Rs 7,000.

On completion of the training, the graduates will be paid Rs 12,000 a month while class XII candidates will be paid Rs 10,000.

The recruitment drive was organised to build Bhutan’s human resource capacity for the BPO industry.
